Technology

Belen Jesuit is committed to preparing its students to be leaders in a twenty-first century global society and thus provides its students and teachers with the technology to develop and teach the necessary skills. We strive to afford our educational community with the essential conditions for technology to fulfill its promise in education—shared vision, access to hardware and software, professional development, technical assistance, content and technology standards and curriculum resources, student-centered teaching, assessment, and community support.

Carlos M. Barañano Technology Center

The school has a campus-wide network which is housed in the Carlos M. Barañano Technology Center. The network links the administration, building the library, computer labs, counseling center, science building, teachers' offices, faculty room, gymnasium, and classrooms. In addition to the resources and databases on the Belen Jesuit servers, all computers have Microsoft Office 2003 installed and have Internet access via a 10 megabit fiber optic connection. All students have access to the computer resources during the day in the Ramon Guiteras Memorial Library and before and after school in the Frances Guiteras Computer Resource Center, adjacent to the library.

The Barañano Technology Center has a secure server room, open office space for the Technology Team, a work area for faculty, a conference room, set-up, staging and maintenance area, storage area and technology library/reading room.  In this center all academic and administrative computing services are available.  The center houses the following classrooms:  Desktop Publishing Center (loaded with Adobe CS4 Master Collection), Web Page Design Lab, Middle School Resource center and Computer Science Lab. In addition, each classroom and computer lab is equipped with a ceiling mounted projector and Smart Board—a touch sensitive interactive white board which converges audio, video and Web technology.
