ANNOUNCEMENTS Library Purchases New Tables & Chairs
The Ramón Guiteras Memorial Library recently purchased and
installed new tables and chairs for the students in both the Reading
Room as well as in the Circulation Area. They were specially
constructed for us by Camilo Office Furniture and are a beautiful addition
to the library.

Additional Computers for the Library
The library already has 25
computers available for student use in addition to four dedicated
Online Public Access Catalogs (OPAC's). 8 more computers are
planned to be added in the near future to the reading room pictured
above.
Student Resource Center Gold
Student Resource Center - Gold was just
added to the library's list of databases and offers easy access to
award-winning content based on national curriculum standards.
Covering all core curriculum areas, including history, literature,
science, social studies, and more, SRC - Gold provides a premium
selection of reference material, more than 1,100 full-text
periodicals and newspapers, primary sources, creative works, and
multimedia, including hours of video and audio clips and podcasts.
Premier reference content includes the American Journey Series,
American Decades, Career Information Center and the SRC Health
Module. New to the database are Lexile reading levels for
periodicals, an integrated national and state curriculum standards
search with content correlated to the standards, and popular topic
picklists.
Opposing Viewpoints & Opposing Viewpoints - Critical Thinking
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center was also
just added to the library's list of databases and is a one-stop
source for information on today's hottest social issues. Drawing on
acclaimed series published by Greenhaven Press and other Thomson
Gale imprints, OVRC features viewpoint articles, topic overviews,
full-text magazine, academic journal, and newspaper articles,
primary source documents, statistics, images and podcasts, and links
to Websites. New to the database are Lexile reading levels for
periodicals and an integrated national and state curriculum
standards search with content correlated to the standards.
Questia
All Belen faculty members and students from grades 9 through 12th
grade now have access to Questia, the largest online library with over 60,000 eBooks and more
than a million full-text articles. Questia is a research tools that
helps the user find the information they need. Questia
provides a workspace for researchers to highlight and make notes as
they read the material. Questia can also produce citations and
bibliographies.
Students or faculty members who would like to
receive training on using this database can see Mrs. Cosculluela or Mr.
Ballesteros at the library.

www.Questia.com. You will be prompted
for username and password. Students should use their Belen student ID
number and the word belenprep in lower case as their password.
