GREEN CLUB
The Green Club emphasizes a localized practical approach for the Belen Jesuit community to do something in favor of the environment. The moderator for the club is Ms. Sylvia Davalos.
GOALS OF THE CLUB
- To promote awareness of the importance of the environment throughout the school
- To promote greener options of waste management, such as recycling, throughout the school.
- To offer an opportunity to other students to be involved in the betterment of their school.
CLUB EVENTS
- On Earth Day, we will be holding an activity in the science patio where we demonstrate the paper recycling process to students during their lunch periods. All members of the Belen family are invited to this event. We will also be showing a collection of colorful shells left by the Cuban land snail.
- For the past year, we have been working had to procure recycling bins to place in each classroom so that students and teachers can recycle paper that is normally thrown away.
- Students have the opportunity to participate in the Fairchild Tropical Gardens environmental challenge, in which club members send in creative projects for which they may receive awards.
