Christian Life Communities

Christian Life Community (CLC) is an international association of lay Christians who have adopted an Ignatian model of spiritual life. The ‘Community’ of over 25,000 members of men, women, and young adults is present in over sixty countries around the world.

CLC draws its inspiration from the teachings of Ignatius of Loyola. Members are encouraged to adhere to a lifestyle which is Christ centered, gospel-based and simple, to serve others and to integrate contemplation and action.  Through an integrated Ignatian spirituality it is centered on a “process”, a relational experience which shows us a way to bring together our faith and daily living. Ignatian spiritual discernment is a way of prayerfulness in the midst of all of our human life experiences that leads to a greater awareness of God’s presence in our lives.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
