MATH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (MU ALPHA THETA)
Mu Alpha Theta, Belen Jesuit’s Mathematics Honor Society, recognizes the school’s highest-achieving students in Mathematics and fosters a love of problem-solving through the society’s peer-assisted learning program. For more information, please email Ulises Ordunez and Ivette Aguila.
To qualify for membership, the student must meet the following criteria:
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior
- A minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.5
- Be enrolled in the Honors or AP mathematics course in the grade level and earn a grade of 90% or higher in each semester of their Honors course or 87% or higher in their AP course
- No grade lower than a 1 in conduct and effort in an advanced Math course
- Approval from the Math Department
To remain a member, a student must:
- Maintain a minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.5
- Maintain a minimum grade of 90% in each semester of their Honors Math course or of 87% in each semester of their AP Math course
- Maintain a grade of 1 in conduct and effort in the student’s advanced Math course for the year
- Attend MAT meetings and participate in MAT sponsored activities, including MAT competitions and Math Lab
