Reaccreditation News

Fr. Guillermo M. García-Tuñón, S.J. | President
It is with great pleasure that I announce to all of you that Belen Jesuit successfully completed its reaccreditation process with AdvancEd.

The visiting review team presented their conclusions at a faculty meeting yesterday afternoon and expressed their admiration for the work that we do. We were approved because Belen Jesuit scored way above the national average in all areas. In particular, the elements that most stood out for them were the strength of our alumni base and Association, our tradition and extraordinary history, the campus and its facilities, and the strong academic program and support services that has generated 100% college acceptance.

My deepest gratitude to Mr. Jose Roca and his team for the hard work throughout the year in preparation for the visit. Special thanks to the teachers, parents, board members, alumni, and students who participated both in the survey and interviews with the visiting review team.

Last but not least, thank you to the whole Belen Jesuit community. Your faith, hard work, and commitment to Belen is what makes it all work so incredibly well. There would be no Belen to be reaccredited without you.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
