CAMPUS MINISTRY

The Campus Ministry Department at Belen Jesuit seeks to implement ministry closely aligned with the mission of the Society of Jesus and the school.  The approach to ministry is one that is deeply rooted in Christ and inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

At Belen Jesuit, we are committed to the moral and spiritual development of our students.  Faith in God and the values of trust, humility and compassion are interwoven into all aspects of education at Belen.  We challenge our students to live meaningful lives serving others and thus serving God.  Through the Campus Ministry Program, we encourage and foster a community of faith and respect.  Faith is not merely talked about, but rather it is lived on a daily basis to promote a life of Christian service.

The Campus Ministry Department strives to promote our Catholic, Jesuit identity by partnering with all facets of the Belen community to provide our students with a world-affirming education. We invite our students to discover God’s presence and activity in all areas of life.

Through the Campus Ministry Department, students have opportunities to receive the Sacraments, engage in communal or personal prayer, join with other students to reflect on their life’s journey in a spiritual setting, attend retreats catered to their grade-level, and engage in community service.
A Christ centered faith community forming "intentional disciples" as Men For Others.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
