'For the Greater Glory'

Fr. Guillermo M. García-Tuñón, S.J. | President
On the night of the gala, I took the occasion to make an important announcement. Taking advantage of the great enthusiasm that was being shared that evening, I announced the public phase of a comprehensive and ambitious capital campaign which we are calling “For the Greater Glory.”

Little did many know that this campaign actually began in 2017 when we unveiled the Strategic Plan. Since then, we have been working tirelessly under the radar to raise enough money to set a solid foundation for a successful campaign. In two years, the Advancement Office and I have raised $21 million. In addition to this amount, we estimate, based on the current trend, to raise an additional $6 million by 2022 with the Annual Fund alone.

Because of this, we are setting a goal of $34 million for the “For The Greater Glory Capital Campaign.”

This capital campaign in both its silent and public phase is a fundamental piece of the strategic plan for our school. It means we are investing in the education of our sons and future generations. Throughout the glorious 165-year history of Belen Jesuit, the community has risen to the challenge. Now, I am encouraging you to once again rise to the occasion and help fulfill our goal. You can do this by continuing to give to the Annual Fund so we can forge ahead into the future with confidence and determination.

I ask all the members of the Belen community - grandparents, parents, alumni, employees - to join me in this worthy endeavor. While there is no question that we will succeed in moving our alma mater forward, it will only happen if Belen rises to the occasion.

The goal is set. We need to raise $7 million by 2022 in order to reach our target. It is our time to carry Belen Jesuit to the next level, to reach new heights. It is our time to answer the challenge with a resounding yes and make our pledge. Together we can help fulfill the vision and dreams of those giants that came before us. A vision that sought not the glory of some, but the glory of the One… God’s greater glory.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
