Admissions Season

Lucila E. Marazita-Espinosa, Ed.D.| Director of Admissions
Belen, for the past 166 years, has been educating young men in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Our strong alumni association with over 7,500 members around the world, from Mumbai to the Philippines to the Amazonian jungles of Brazil, is a strong testament to what it means to be “men for others.”

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic we’ve had to make adjustments to how we will proceed with our admissions process. The Virtual Open House will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2020, and urge you to keep an eye on our website for detailed information. The Open House is the perfect opportunity for you and your son to find out what Belen has to offer. You will meet teachers, administrators, counselors, coaches, and alumni who will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and share the unique and rich history of our school.  They will share with you first-hand accounts of their experiences and what it means to be Jesuit educated. Registration for the Open House is required and opens on September 14. You may register online for either the morning or the afternoon session.

The admission process is explained in detail on our website.  Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will not be administering the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) onsite in 2020 for Early Decision. This year prospective 6th-grade students who are interested in the Early Decision option must register for the ISEE At Home via ProProctor. All required documentation including ISEE scores must be submitted by November 16, 2020

Belen Jesuit will administer on-site the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) on December 12, 2020, for prospective 9th-grade students. Please keep in mind that the date is subject to change as well as the test method depending on the status of the pandemic. Only prospective students taking the ISEE at Belen Jesuit will be considered for admission. The deadline to register for the ISEE is November 20, 2020. The cost of the ISEE is $140 and is independent of the $75 application fee.  All required documentation must be submitted to Belen Jesuit by December 7, 2020.

Prospective 6th-grade students interested in pursuing admission via Regular Decision are able to register to take the ISEE or SSAT at a testing site of their choice.  All required documentation including ISEE or SSAT scores must be submitted by January 15, 2021. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
