MAJOR GIFT ANNOUNCEMENT: THE JIMÉNEZ FAMILY

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Belen Jesuit is excited to announce that the Jiménez family has pledged a $500,000 major gift towards fulfilling the goals laid out in the strategic plan designed to advance the vision and direction of the school. This gift bolsters the “For the Greater Glory” campaign and is in addition to many past contributions that have helped the school and will be allocated for the construction of the Our Lady of Belen Chapel.

Peter and Yamile Jiménez have been strong supporters of the school for over a decade. Their sons, Peter John '10 and Gabriel Peter '16 are proud alumni. They also have a daughter, Victoria Elizabeth who graduated from Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in 2012.

“Belen has and will continue to be an extension of our family and not just an academic institution,” said Peter and Yamile. “It’s amazing to see young boys turn into thriving professional men with families of their own to carry the ‘men for others’ legacy. The school is a beacon in our community because it helps to form our future leaders and creates a lasting foundation. We are proud to continue to support Belen as it continues to grow and improve to meet the challenges of today.”

“We are blessed to have the support of the Jiménez family as we continue to advance the directives laid out in the Strategic Plan,” said Father Willie ‘87. “They understand that the changes to our campus are opportunities for growth and opportunities to add fuel to the fire. The Our Lady of Belen Chapel will be a beacon of hope and a sacred place where our students will foster their spiritual formation. We are grateful to the Jiménez family for their generous gift.”

Every gift received helps us in fulfilling the challenges set forth in the Strategic Plan (Strengthening our Catholic-Jesuit Identity, Academic Excellence, Forming Well-Rounded Men and Enhancing our Brotherhood) and we plan on announcing many more leadership level gifts in the coming months.

We continue to strive for greatness and need your help in achieving our goal. If you would like to contribute to the vision of the school, please contact Phil Fernández ’94 at ffernandez@belenjesuit.org or 305-804-7683.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
