Pardon Our Progress, Great Things Ahead
Construction has maintained at a steady pace on the Our Lady of Belen Chapel. The metal roof joists and steel decking have been installed. Windows in the sacristy have been installed. Plumbing and electrical work continue in both the Chapel and sacristy buildings. The concrete structure of the Chapel is 90% complete!
The Roberto C. Goizueta Innovation Center gym lobby was completely remodeled. New porcelain tiles were installed on floors and walls. Additionally, a classroom in the main building was completely renovated and now features a modern design and new furniture. This brings the number of modernized classrooms to five. The plan is to continue to remodel classrooms at a steady pace over the next couple of years. Lastly, the first-floor hallways in the main school building have been polished and sealed.
These projects wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for the generosity of many people. We continue to strive for greatness and need your help in achieving our goal. Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
