1961 Day of Giving

Fr. Willie ‘87 | President
In the spirit of Belen’s 60th anniversary in Miami, this year’s Giving Day will take place over the span of 1,961 minutes referencing the year that, filled with hopes and dreams, Belen was re-established in Miami. This equals 32-hours which will begin on May 10, 2022, at 1:19 p.m. and end on May 11, 2022, at 10 p.m. Please be on the lookout for an email with the link to make a gift!

Our goal is to raise $200,000. We can’t do this without your help! Thankfully, our Belen community is extremely generous and a parent of a current student has offered a $50,000 match, dollar for dollar, that will get us started!

For 1,961 minutes we're asking you to join with fellow alumni and Belen community members from around the world as we work together to give back to the school we love. Your generosity will enable us to continue our mission of educating young men and raise money for The Fund for Belen.

The Fund for Belen sustains the school’s commitment to quality education. Belen’s tuition does not cover the entire cost of educating each student. We rely on contributions to the fund to help close the gap between our tuition revenues and the higher cost of providing a top education infused with Jesuit excellence.

The collective support of this campaign gives Belen the flexibility to support various initiatives. Virtually no aspect of our school, from arts, athletics, technology upgrades, faculty development, and many other areas is left untouched by contributions to the fund. Gifts help control tuition levels to continue making our school accessible to families of all financial levels. It is important to remember that Fund for Belen gifts are tax-deductible, whereas tuition increases are not.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
