Major Gift Announcement: Sarria Family

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Belen Jesuit is excited to announce that the Sarria Family has pledged a major gift towards fulfilling the goals outlined in the 2022 Strategic Plan. This donation of large significance is intended to advance the vision and direction of the school.

“Built on five pillars, the Strategic Plan is a roadmap for the future and clearly defines our goals for the next few years,” said Fr. Willie ‘87. “We are very fortunate to have the Sarria family step forward and pledge their support to Belen Jesuit. Their generosity is a testament to the value of a Jesuit education and a commitment to Belen's continued growth and development.”

This major gift will be acknowledged by naming the dining hall in their honor. Signage will be installed this semester that will proudly read, The Sarria Family Dining Hall.

“We are proud to support Belen Jesuit in their mission of educating men of faith, character, and strong values,” said Francisco Sarria and Ricardo Sarria. “The formation and principles our sons - Lucca Jo ‘25, Federico Matis ‘28, and Ricardo Emanuel ‘28 -  are receiving at the school is unparalleled, and we are excited to be members of the Belen family.”

When Federico Sarria & Maria del Carmen Sarria came to the United States from Cuba, they established themselves in Miami as a prominent family in the community. Along with their sons, the family owns and manages a residential and commercial real estate holdings company. It is through their hard work and success in this country that the Sarria family is honored to present this generous gift to Belen Jesuit.

Every gift received helps us fulfill the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan, and we plan to announce many more leadership-level pledges in the future.

We continue to strive for greatness and need your help in achieving our goal. If you would like to contribute to the school's vision, please contact Phil Fernandez ’94 at ffernandez@belenjesuit.org or call him at 305-804-7683.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
