Vincam Relaunches as a Website

Maria Teresa De Aguiar | Vincam Advisor
Five years ago, the student editors of Vincam, Belen Jesuit’s official student publication, took their student newspaper from print into the digital era.
Since then, there have been many issues published as electronic PDFs, and these issues now remain digitally archived on our school website.

This year’s three Vincam editors had the task of transitioning platforms once again in order to keep up with technology and the latest trends for online publications. They spent the first semester of this academic year working hard to revamp and develop a new look for Vincam, and as a result, Vincam is now an entire website! They have built a dynamic foundation for student news that will only continue to grow and evolve.

We ask you, our readers, to join us at www.belenvincam.com as our student editors and contributing writers launch their new, online student publication platform. Continuing the tradition of Vincam since its inception on our school campus in Havana, Cuba, this is a new way for students to express themselves and share their voice in the community. They continue to use this forum to write about and feature things that are important to them. We invite you to log on, explore, and enjoy the news, features, opinions, and community stories and snippets from our editors and contributing writers. They look forward to putting up new content weekly for you to enjoy!

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
