Belen Jesuit band students Andre Hall '19 and Alejandro Fernandez '20 kicked off the inaugural Gallery Concert Series on November 15.
The duo played on a Steinway piano in front of an audience of family and friends. Andre played selections by composers Mozart, Beethoven and Debussy, while Alejandro amazed the concert goers with his performance of Mendelsohn's Rondo Capriccioso Op 14.  In the new year, the Carlos and Olga Saldrigas Gallery will showcase three other student bands. The dates of those concerts are yet to be determined.

The fall season in the ICA continues with the comedy, “Moon Over Buffalo”, opening on November 30 in the Ophelia and Juan Js. Roca Theater.  Directed by Humanities teacher Mr. Leo J. Williams, this production is sure to be a smashing success.  We are excited to see our thespians in this amazing production. The season will conclude with the annual Christmas Concert Series opening on December 11 and closing on December 12. Our Bands will surely wow the audience with their talents and selection of wonderful Christmas music.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
