Respect Life Month

Cesar Aguzzi ’19 & Guillermo Quintero ’19 | Club Members
When we joined the Respect Life Club, we didn’t know what to expect but there was a longing within us to fight for the rights of the unborn. Both of us have taken part in the March for Life in Washtington, D.C., Life Chain in Miami, Diaper Drives, and 5k’s that support the pro-life movement and work to put an end to the death of innocent babies. The experience of walking side by side with those who believe in the same cause that you do is incredibly powerful. At times, we’ve been faced with people who yell at us because of our beliefs, but it is in those moments that we must remember, “do not be afraid.”

For anyone who may be interested in joining a club, we recommend that you join and support a club with a purpose outside of academics or sports. Apart from being part of an influential and respectable club, you will also be part of the Respect Life community dedicated to making a difference.

Respect Life month began on the first Sunday of October. It is important to remember that Respect Life includes many different issues and not just the prevention of abortions. For example, it includes persons with disabilities, assisted suicide, end of life, contraception and abortion healing. For more information please visit, www.usccb.org/respectlife or email our club moderator Mrs. Corzo at scorzo@belenjesuit.rog.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
