1854 Day of Giving

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
This year’s Day of Giving will start on Tuesday, May 6, at noon. This Day of Giving is unlike any other because we are celebrating 1,854 minutes—in honor of the year Belen was established in Cuba. That’s nearly 31 hours, during which you’ll see what we're doing at the school and what’s to come, thanks to the generosity of our Belen family. Our goal is to secure 900 donations, and we are confident that we can do it with your support!

The Belen community has always shown immense generosity, and we are confident that we can surpass our initial goal. We are happy to announce three incentives to help us reach our goal:

200 parent donors unlocks $40,000
250 alumni donors unlocks $30,000
650 total donors unlocks $50,000

We invite the entire Belen community to unite and give back to the school we hold dear. Your contributions will support our mission of educating young men and help continue the exciting improvements on campus.

The Fund for Belen sustains the school’s commitment to quality education. Belen’s tuition does not cover the entire cost of educating each student. We rely on contributions to the fund to help close the gap between our tuition revenues and the higher cost of providing a top education infused with Jesuit excellence.

Your support for the Fund for Belen is not just a donation; it's an investment in our community. It provides us with the flexibility to support a variety of initiatives, from arts and athletics to technology upgrades and faculty development. Your gifts also help control tuition levels, making our school accessible to families of all financial levels. And remember, Fund for Belen gifts are tax-deductible, a benefit that tuition increases do not offer.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
