Admission Process

The admissions process for the 2021-2022 school year will open on September 14, 2020.

Belen Jesuit is a school deeply rooted in Ignatian tradition and pedagogy. These traits are what set us apart from other schools and what makes Belen Jesuit an extraordinary college preparatory school.
 
Admission to Belen Jesuit is selective and limited to grades 6 and 9.  All applicants must complete an online application for admissions, take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) for early decision or submit SSAT or ISEE scores for regular decision.  Families who are interested in learning more about our school and the admissions process are invited to attend our Open House. Private and group tours are also available by appointment.

ADMISSIONS POLICY

Belen Jesuit admits students without regard to race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin. As a Catholic college preparatory­­­ school in the Jesuit tradition, Belen Jesuit actively seeks a student body that represents a broad and diverse variety of abilities, talents, backgrounds, and interests.

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Admission is based upon the following criteria:
  • ISEE scores (Early Decision)
  • ISEE or SSAT scores (Regular Decision)
  • Current school record and previous year’s report card.
  • Latest standardized test scores
  • Interview
Applications will not be reviewed until all required documentation has been received.

How to Apply

EARLY DECISION (GRADE 6 ONLY)
Prospective families who know that Belen Jesuit Preparatory School is the school of choice for their son’s education are highly encouraged to apply for Early Admission. 

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will not be administering the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) onsite in 2020 for Early Decision. Instead, prospective students will take the ISEE At Home via ProProctor. 
  • Click here to apply to Belen Jesuit beginning on September 14, 2020. All required documentation including ISEE scores must be submitted by November 16, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Belen Jesuit Early Decision application fee has been waived for 2020.
  • Click here to register to take the ISEE At Home via ProProctor. The test should be taken no later than November 11, 2020, in order to have scores on time for the November 16, 2020 deadline. The ISEE school code is 571532. The cost of the ISEE online is $200. The fee is paid directly to the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) at the time of registration for the test. 
  • Notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on January 8, 2021. 
Since Early Decision at Belen Jesuit is binding, if a candidate is admitted and enrolled, families agree to withdraw applications at all other learning institutions. In addition, families will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to January 22, 2021, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.
 
Approximately 85% of students are selected from the Early Admission applicant pool.
 
REGULAR DECISION (GRADE 6 ONLY)
Prospective families who are considering Belen Jesuit Preparatory School as one of the choices for their son’s education are eligible to apply through the Regular Admission process.
  • Click here to apply and submit all required documentation including ISEE or SSAT scores by January 15, 2021. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application.
  • Click here to register to take the ISEE or click here to register to take the SSAT. The ISEE school code is 571532. The SSAT school code is 1603. 
  • Notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on February 26, 2021. 
Families of admitted students will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to March 5, 2021, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.
 
THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR THE PROSPECTIVE NINTH GRADER
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will administer on-site the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) on December 12, 2020. Only prospective students taking the ISEE at Belen Jesuit will be considered for admission.
  • Click here to apply to Belen Jesuit. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application. Once you have completed the application, the Admission Office will send you the test event code to register for the ISEE. The cost of the test is $140 and is independent of the application fee.
    Note: The deadline to register for the ISEE is November 20, 2020. It can take up to 72-hours to process an application. Please allow enough time to receive the event code and be able to register by the deadline.
  • All required documentation must be submitted to Belen Jesuit by December 7, 2020. 
  • Notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on January 22, 2021
Families of admitted ninth-grade students will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to January 29, 2021, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION

This school is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. Click here for more information on SEVIS. International students should contact the Admissions office in order to receive an international students application.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
