Admission Process

Belen Jesuit is a school deeply rooted in Ignatian tradition and pedagogy. These traits are what set us apart from other schools and what makes Belen Jesuit an extraordinary college preparatory school.
 
Admission to Belen Jesuit is selective and limited to grades 6 and 9.  All applicants must complete an online application for admissions and take an entrance examination. Belen Jesuit admits students without regard to race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin. As a Catholic college preparatory­­­ school in the Jesuit tradition, Belen Jesuit actively seeks a student body that represents a broad and diverse variety of abilities, talents, backgrounds, and interests.
 
We ask that you file your application with consideration for the time required to test and interview your son, as well as to receive his records and recommendation forms. The Admission Committee strongly recommends that you apply early to ensure sufficient time to complete the student’s file.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR SIXTH GRADE - EARLY DECISION

Prospective families who know that Belen Jesuit Preparatory School is the school of choice for their son’s education are highly encouraged to apply for Early Decision Admission. Approximately 85% of students are selected from the Early Decision Admission applicant pool.

Since Early Decision at Belen Jesuit is binding, if a candidate is admitted and enrolled, families agree to withdraw applications at all other learning institutions. In addition, families will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to January 28, 2022, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.

Decision notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on January 7, 2022.

  • Step 1: Submit Your Application by November 12


    Submit your admissions application by Friday, November 12, 2021. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application.
  • Step 2: Register for the ISEE at Belen by November 13

     
    Once you have completed the application, the Admission Office will send you the event code to register for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), administered on-site on December 4, 2021. 

    The cost of the test is independent of the application fee and is paid directly to the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The deadline to register for the ISEE is November 13, 2021. 

    It can take up to 72-hours to process an application. Therefore, please allow enough time to receive the event code and be able to register by the November 13, 2021 deadline.

    Only prospective students taking the ISEE at Belen Jesuit will be considered for early decision admission. 
  • Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents by November 27


    Applicants are required to submit the following supporting documents to complete the My Belen portal. Once your application is processed you will be able to upload these documents.

    Latest Standardized Test Scores

    All required documentation must be submitted to Belen Jesuit by November 27, 2021. 
  • Step 4: Interview


    A member of the Admissions Interview Committee will contact you to interview you and your son as part of the admissions process.  

ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR SIXTH GRADE - REGULAR DECISION

Prospective families who are considering Belen Jesuit Preparatory School as one of the choices for their son’s education are eligible to apply through the Regular Decision Admission process.

Families of admitted students will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to March 4, 2022, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.

Decision notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on February 25, 2022.

  • Step 1: Submit Your Application by January 14


    Submit your admissions application by Friday, January 14, 2022. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application.
  • Step 2: Register to take the ISEE or SSAT


    To receive the scores in time, the test should be taken no later than January 28, 2022. 

    • Click here to register to take the ISEE. Our ISEE school code is 571532. The ISEE can be scheduled to be taken online. To register for ERB ISEE Online at Home test dates for applicants to grades 5-12, please search by the “State” of New York (for eastern time), by the “State” of Texas (for central time), or by the “State” of California (for pacific time) in the “Test Search”. The only other boxes would be the date ranges and make sure “Online” is the selected Testing Method.

  • Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents by January 28

ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR NINTH GRADE

Families of admitted ninth-grade students will be required to sign an enrollment contract and submit a $2,500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit prior to January 31, 2022, which will be credited towards tuition and fees.

Decision notifications will be posted in the My Belen portal on January 21, 2022.

    Submit your admissions application by Friday, November 19, 2021. A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 will be assessed at the time of the application.
  • Step 2: Register for the ISEE at Belen by November 20

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION

This school is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. Click here for more information on SEVIS. International students should contact the Admissions office in order to receive an international students application.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
