College Counseling

Belen Jesuit provides comprehensive college counseling through five full-time counselors who guide students and families throughout the entire college search and application process. Each student is paired with a counselor starting freshman year, ensuring consistent support through graduation.

In 9th and 10th grade, students primarily meet with counselors in groups, with individual meetings available upon request. Beginning junior year, counselors work more closely with students to plan testing, explore college options, and build application strategies. Senior year focuses on finalizing college lists, completing applications, editing essays, and exploring scholarships and financial aid.

Belen also hosts evening workshops and information sessions for students and parents, encourages participation in annual College Tours, and welcomes 150+ college reps to campus through College Fairs and information sessions.

Mission Statement

Recognizing that each individual has unique needs, our mission is to provide complete support to all families and students throughout their high school career and beyond.  From initiating the college search to discerning the path that best aligns with their academic, spiritual, social, and financial needs, we guide students so that they may live out their purpose for the greater glory of God.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
