Why Support Belen

With 170 years of experience forming young men in the 450-year-old tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Belen Jesuit strives to educate the heart, mind, body, and soul of all the young men entrusted to our care by their parents. We strive to build a better society and culture based on solid moral values.

Your generous donation to Belen will help us in the following areas:
  • Provide our faculty with competitive salaries to retain top teachers and maintain our high quality of education.
  • Improve educational technology and make it available to all our students and faculty.
  • Enhance our Pastoral Ministry program, retreats, peer ministry, and faculty development.
  • Strengthen extracurricular efforts, including the sciences, sports, music, and the arts.

Every Donation Matters

Fifteen percent of families enrolled at the school receive tuition assistance thanks to the Belen Financial Assistance Program and the generosity of so many. Together, we’ve been able to distribute an estimated $2,516,000 annually, making the possibility of a Jesuit education a reality for many young men.

Because Belen is a tuition-driven institution, with more than 80% of our budget coming from tuition, all parents of students at our school are asked to make a pledge to the Fund for Belen at the time of registration to help fill the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education at Belen. Every pledge helps, no matter the size.

Ask us about additional types of gifts: matching funds, endowments, bequests through a will or codicil, gifts of stock and securities, real estate (with permission from the Board of Trustees), and individual retirement accounts.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
