The Alfredo Socorro Scholarship Fund

The class of 1997 has dedicated a scholarship in memory of their classmate Alfredo Socorro. They aim to gather monthly donations from the class of 1997, and friends and family of Alfredo into an interest compounding account managed by the Our Lady of Belen Foundation . As the donations accumulate so will the accrued interest.

Our goal is to be able to raise $516,000 and present a full scholarship to a freshman student in 2028. In order to create a lasting legacy for our fellow classmate Alfredo Socorro by investing in the future leaders of the Belen Community.

How Can I Help?

A little every month… by signing up, you agree to allow the foundation to charge your credit card on a monthly basis. You can select what you feel comfortable with. From $15.00 per month to however high you can provide. The money will also grow in a tax free interest bearing account.

Together We Can Make A Difference

"We have an ambitous goal but together as a class of brothers we can do this," said Cesar Cajigas '97.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
