Rick Echeverria '84 | Director of Plant Operations
After two years of construction, the Gian Zumpano Aquatic Center is near completion. Workers have been working tirelessly to complete the project and most recently finished:
  • The interior plaster of the pool was completed on March 29th
  • Pool was filled with water from during the Easter break.
  • Locker/restrooms have been completed.
  • Steel framing for canvas awnings over bleachers have been installed.
We have several steps still to go, including:
  • All pool equipment and lines are being tested for proper operation
  • Concrete deck will be poured during the week of April 23rd
  • Clean up and grading around site has commenced
Once those items are complete the finishing touches will be done and the Blessing & Inauguration of the Gian Zumpano Aquatic Center will take place in June.

We are excited to see this project come to fruition and thank the Zumpano family along with everyone who has contributed to making the Gian Zumpano Aquatic Center a reality.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
