With over 7,000 alumni around the world and with a reinvigorated desire to showcase our alumni, Belen launched #BNetworked in December 2018.
“The goal is to highlight companies that are either alumni-owned or have a group of alumni that work together. We aim to showcase how the bonds formed at Belen, regardless of graduation year, unite alumni both in their professional and personal lives,” said Carlos Bravo ‘86, Alumni Association Executive Director.
The next company to be profiled is AG Law. This law firm is located in Coconut Grove.
The following questions were answered by Alexis Gonzalez '92, the firm's Managing Partner.
How many alumni work at the company? We have three alumni at the firm. The alumni who work at the firm are Alexis Gonzalez, Esq. ‘92, Alejandro Hoyos, Esq. ‘92, Alberto Orizondo, Esq. ‘01 and Robert Perez, Esq. ‘91 (Of Counsel).
What are the advantages of working with fellow alumni? In our particular case, three of us have been friends since our junior high days at Belen. Thus, the familiarity with each other, including knowledge of each person’s strengths and weaknesses, has definitely helped foster a strong and successful team approach that helps us in our professional practice. In addition, having four of us raised upon and subscribing to the same values and work ethic that Belen instilled in us also creates a very fluid and comfortable work environment. We all share the same drive to succeed in our profession, while always applying the Jesuit values that we were so blessed to receive at Belen.
In summary, what does your company do? We are a boutique law firm offering services in litigation, transactional and administrative matters. We represent a diverse group of clients from
the United States and abroad in matters involving all aspects of law, including but not limited to:
business and commercial law, association, construction, education, labor & employment, real estate, and government regulation (including Americans With Disabilities Act).
Our firm also regularly represents clients involved in all forms of disputes in the aforementioned areas of law such as civil litigation or other forms of dispute resolution through final resolution; be it in a trial, the appellate process or the equivalent thereof.
Our Of Counsel, Robert Perez ’91, practices in the areas of criminal law and first-party insurance litigation.
Do you have any job openings? Not at this time.
What are you most proud of (professionally)? Celebrating our 16th year in existence, we are most proud of our long-standing client relationships. We believe they reflect not only our high level of success in the various legal services that we provide, but also the manner in which we provide them. Our clients know that we hold their interests in the highest regard, no matter what the task or the nature of the representation, but that we also bolster the quality of our service
with a strong dedication to the ethics that govern our profession and the values that were instilled in us at Belen.
Do you offer an alumni discount? Yes, we do. However, each discount depends upon the nature of the representation.
All the Belen alumni who work at the firm can be contacted by alumni via the BConnected platform on belenalumni.org.
