Adapting to our “new normal” has become par for the course. This year, for the first-time, Belen Jesuit will host a Virtual Open House for prospective students and their parents.
“Six hundred people have registered to take part in the Virtual Open House,” said Dr. Lucila E. Marazita-Espinosa, Director of Admissions. “We have taken this challenge as an opportunity to reenvision the Open House, maintain the same level of quality, and unveil our new virtual tour.”
All registered attendees will be sent detailed instructions on how to participate in the virtual event which will take place on Saturday, October 3. Additionally, the school will also showcase a 360-degree virtual tour of the campus.
“The virtual tour has been an exciting venture to undertake and I’m looking forward to hearing feedback from the community,” said Teresa Martinez, Director of Communications. “The virtual tour is divided into five sections. Not every place on campus is accessible but we will continue to build and add to it. Among the many features are hot spots where guests can listen to our students and other members of the school community about their experiences at Belen.”
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
