Program Expansion Kicks Off New School Year

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Belen Jesuit is excited to begin the new academic year by announcing that a recent grant will be used to help the initiatives of the Roberto C. Goizueta Innovation Center and the Catholic Entrepreneurship Program at Belen. Additionally, the partnership between Belen and Breakthrough Miami will be strengthened, extending the possibilities of a Catholic-Jesuit education to more young men.

●  The school plans to enhance the technology and teaching opportunities available to students in the STEAM program, provide professional development to the STEAM team and increase the number of educational opportunities for not only Belen Jesuit students and faculty but for our community outreach program as well.
●  The Catholic Entrepreneurship Program, entering its sophomore year, will benefit from the addition of key personnel and additional funding in order to enhance its curriculum and offerings.
●  Belen Jesuit has always been committed to providing a Jesuit education to as many young men as possible. Through this grant, our collaboration with Breakthrough Miami will continue to grow and strengthen, which will facilitate our desire to have a more diverse student population.

“The generosity of Roberto and Olga Goizueta continues to bear fruit through their foundation. We are extremely grateful for the devotion they’ve shown Belen Jesuit through the decades,” said school President Fr. Guillermo García-Tuñón, S.J. ’87. “This grant will help us maintain high academic standards, expand our commitment to diversity, and challenge our young men to think outside the box for a global marketplace.”

We continue striving for greatness and need your help in achieving our goal. If you would like to contribute to the vision of the school, please get in touch with Phil Fernandez ’94 at ffernandez@belenjesuit.org or call him at 305-804-7683.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
