Major Gift Announcement: Kadre Counseling Center

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami is proud to announce that Manny Kadre, on behalf of his family, has pledged a significant gift in support of the school’s 2022 Strategic Plan. This transformational commitment strengthens the vision for the future of Belen Jesuit and ensures continued growth in key areas that directly impact students—most notably, counseling and student wellness.

“Built on five pillars, the Strategic Plan is our roadmap for the future and clearly defines our goals,” said Fr. Willie García-Tuñón, S.J. ’87. “We are deeply grateful to the Kadre Family for their remarkable generosity, rooted in their passion for Catholic education and commitment to mental wellness. Our School and College Counselors are truly the best of the best, and with this gift, we will continue to provide the guidance and care our young men need—all for the greater glory of God.”

In recognition of this gift, the school’s counseling offices have been officially named the Kadre Counseling Center. Signage has already been installed on campus, uniting both the School Counseling Office and College Counseling Office under one name. While currently located in separate spaces, both will eventually be housed in the planned Student Center, a new facility designed to centralize resources and better serve students and families.

Every leadership-level gift plays a vital role in fulfilling the vision of Belen Jesuit’s Strategic Plan. Mr. Kadre’s generosity not only supports the Catholic, Jesuit mission of education but also sets the tone for future philanthropic commitments.

We remain committed to forming young men in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, where academic excellence, faith formation, and student well-being go hand in hand. Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
