Yvonne von der Osten | Advancement Manager & Events Coordinator
On Saturday, November 19 at the University of Miami’s Student Activities Center, Belen Jesuit is going to “Light Up the Night” and celebrate its 2016 Annual Gala.
This year's theme celebrates Miami and its wonderful influence of culture, food, and music. This event is a great opportunity to come together as a Belen Family, be delighted by the performance of the Belen Jazz Band, enjoy delicious food prepared by Mena Catering, dance to the music played by Ariel Remos ’76.
“The Gala is aimed at bringing together the Belen community to raise funds for the Financial Assistance Program. Over twenty-five percent of our students receive financial assistance, making it one of the most important events of the year,” said Father Willie. “I look forward to this great event coordinated by our, volunteer Gala committee, Advancement Office and hope to see many of our parents and alumni there.”
Thanks to the tremendous support of Gala sponsors, donors and guests, we are able to extend the promise of a Jesuit education to more students. There are various ways you can support our efforts to help make the promise of a Jesuit education a reality for the young men who proudly call Belen their second home!

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
