Special Guests Visit Belen Jesuit

On Thursday, October 13 Belen Jesuit held two very important assemblies. 
Mr. John Foppe, a nationally recognized motivational speaker addressed the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades in the Roberto Goizueta Athletic Center. Mr. Foppe spoke about topics which included faith, leadership, and perseverance. Mr. Foppe’s show, Armed with Faith will air on EWTN at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 22. The Melodores, an acapella group from Vanderbilt University presented in the Roca Theatre for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades. The Melodores have travelled and performed all over the world, and they spoke about the importance of getting involved on a college campus and the overall college experience. The group features alumnus Jonathan Amaro-Barron from the class of 2014.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
