Basketball Teams Meet Head-to-Head

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will play Christopher Columbus High School in basketball at the UM Watsco Center on Friday, January 13, 2017. JV Game begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity Game at 7:30 p.m.
 
The match up will pin Miami-Dade County’s most prestigious, private, all-male Catholic Schools in competition. “I’m very excited to be part of this long time rivalry,” said Varsity Basketball Head Coach Gaston “Chachi” Rodriguez. “I hope to build on our past success and look forward to a great game!”
 
The game will be limited to 2,500 spectators per school. There are 1,000 student tickets at $10.00 each and 1,500 adult tickets at $15.00 each. Tickets on game day will be $20 at the arena. Tickets can be purchased at the Belen Jesuit Campus Store or on the Ticketmaster website.
 
The Watsco Center is located at 1245 Dauer Drive Coral Gables, 33146. *Media park in the Production Lot by the loading dock and enter via the media entrance. The Belen Jesuit team rosters are attached.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
