Help Venezuela

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Amid the ongoing turmoil in Venezuela, students there are continuing their education despite the violence and unrest surrounding them.  Affected by the situation in his homeland, Carlos Caballero ‘20 has launched a campaign to help make a difference. The goal of this campaign is to help raise money to aid a Jesuit school in Caracas rebuild two classrooms and purchase a water tank.

Belen Jesuit has stood by our Venezuelan brothers and sisters throughout their political crisis.  We stand in prayerful solidarity with the hundreds of Venezuelan families who now call Miami and Belen their home and with the millions who courageously face such powerful opposition in their native land.

To donate to this cause visit https://www.belenjesuit.org/venezuelacampaign.  Donations will be accepted until February 7th.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
