Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Please join us in prayer for the many people affected in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
May our Heavenly Father guide the emergency personnel in order to save lives. May our Blessed Mother cover all those devastated with her mantle of love and may we all unite to help them in their recovery.

In times of such devastation we are called to help those in need. In the past, we have asked our Belen community to help, and we have always responded with great generosity. We now need you, once again, to answer the call.  We must run to the fire. Belen Jesuit Campus Ministry and the Belen Alumni Association will be collecting money to support the disaster relief efforts as a result of Hurricane Harvey and the related floods. We will be working with Catholic Charities USA and our brother schools in Houston, Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in order to determine the best way to support the community.

Students can either bring cash or check donations to their Theology teachers. Checks should be made payable to Belen Jesuit Preparatory School with a notation in the memo that says Hurricane Harvey. All other donations can be made online at www.belenjesuit.org/hurricaneharvey.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
