Alumni Expand Their Reach to Social Media

Phil Fernandez '94 | Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations
This past June, alumnus Carlos Bravo, from the class of 1986, took over as the Executive Director of the Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools from Cuba and Miami.
The goal set by Bravo and the Alumni Board is to reignite alumni, energize our membership and communicate more effectively. With that in mind, the Alumni Association has breathed life into their social media presence.

“We’ve had social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for some time but now we are taking a more active approach to communicating with alumni,” said Bravo. “Our aim is to post regularly and to engage our vast alumni community as much as possible. We want our members to know that they can follow us on social media and expect to see information about reunions, activities and alumni being highlighted.”

Leading the charge on the social media front is Director of Alumni Services Ricardo Raimundez ’90. Belen Alumni are encouraged to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Additionally, online photo albums highlighting reunions and special events can be seen at https://belenalumni.smugmug.com/

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
