Alumni Matching Gift Announced

Phil Fernandez '94 | Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations
Recently, Father Willie launched our strategic plan which will be the roadmap that will guide us over the next three years.  The future looks bigger and brighter than ever for Belen Jesuit.
Turning those ideas into reality will involve the entire Belen community. From taking surveys to contributing ideas to giving generously, we will all be called upon to make Father Willie’s vision come to fruition.

To help us get things going, The Garrido Family Foundation has issued a challenge to alumni. They will match dollar for dollar all new and increased annual fund gifts from now until December 31, up to $25,000. Alumni are encouraged to help raise as much as possible by contributing online at www.belenjesuit.org/alumnigiving.

As always, we are grateful to the Garrido family for their generosity and leadership. Alumni Jose A. Garrido, Sr. '46, Jose A. Garrido, Jr. '72, and Jose A. Garrido III '99 are pillars in our community and have never hesitated to show their love for Belen. Let’s join their initiative and make this campaign a success.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the school's property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit is situated on a 34-acre site in western Dade County, just minutes away from downtown Miami.
