This award is given to the alumnus who best demonstrates dedicated service to Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, lives a life of moral virtue, and is a leader spiritually, ethically, and financially for the betterment of his Alma Mater and community. The Alumnus of the Year was announced at the Hall of Fame ceremony on March 21, 2026.
Alfred Consuegra ’84, a member of the Belen Jesuit Class of 1984 and current class delegate, has been named the 2026 Alumnus of the Year.
As a student, Alfred made history as Belen’s first “Waldo,” proudly wearing the mascot costume and demonstrating a school spirit that has never dimmed. He also participated in Belen Youth Missions led by Fr. Eddy Alvarez, S.J. ’63—an experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to service.
A devoted alumnus, Alfred has generously contributed his time and talents to numerous campus construction projects that have enhanced the student experience. Among the most significant is the creation of the Arroyo Quad, a green space that honors the Jesuits who have faithfully served Belen in Miami over the decades. Most recently, he played a leading role in the complete redesign of the Middle School locker rooms in the Roberto C. Goizueta Innovation Center.
“Alfred is a prime example of someone who embodies Belen’s core values and personifies enthusiasm and school spirit,” said Fr. Willie S.J. ’87. “I am blessed to call Alfred a friend and to witness the man he is—not only a proud Belen alumnus, but more importantly, a loving husband and father.”
Alfred lives the magis in both word and action. He is the co-founder of LIFO Missions Group, which has served communities in the Dominican Republic for 40 years. Although his father graduated from La Salle in Cuba, Alfred chose to become a Wolverine—along with his two sons, AJ ’16 and Luis ’22. He continues to serve his alma mater as a mentor to students and young professionals through the Beyond Belen program.
I’m surprised, but extremely grateful and humbled to receive this recognition,” Alfred shared. “After serving behind past Alumnus of the Year honorees—José M. Gonzalez ’91, Eduardo J. Garcia ’87, Roberto Surís ’79, and José L. Toledo ’96—I hope my energy continues to light the fire of future recipients. My alma mater is my home and my community. I strongly believe I am a better man today—and will be better tomorrow—because of my fellow Belen brothers. Belen has given my family and me the grace of community, the backbone that shapes me into a Man for Others.”
He added, “To my classmates from the Class of 1984, thank you for 49 years of friendship. To my family—who keep me humble—my wife, Boli, and my children, Caro, Daniela, AJ, Elena, and Louie—thank you for your love and support.”
Alfred serves as a Project Executive at Vilar-Hoynack Construction, a Miami-based general contracting firm. “The State of Florida may call me a general contractor,” he said, “but my passion is waking up every morning and building something. I have always considered myself a builder—of family, brotherhood, relationships, hope, and dreams. The process of building ignites me to push the limits of serving others. This is what Belen taught me, and this is what fuels my calling to serve the Kingdom of God.”
He studied Architecture and Construction Management at the University of Miami and Florida International University and earned a Master’s in Business in 1998.
In honor of this recognition, a digital billboard will be on display on the Palmetto Expressway & Bird Road from March 23 to April 13, 2026, and at Dadeland Mall from March 23 to April 23, 2026.
