Join the Alumni Centennial Celebration

In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the Belen Alumni Association, the community is invited to join us on May 20 to celebrate this milestone. 

The history of the Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools from Cuba and Miami goes back to 1923 when El Colegio de Belén resided at the Compostela Campus in Havana. The original Asociación de Antiguos Alumnos del Colegio de Belén held its first general assembly on January 31, 1923, followed by a luncheon on February 24, at the Quinta de la Asunción in Luyanó, where 230 alumni participated in the founding of the Alumni Association.

“It is 100 years of brotherhood and community, of reminiscing and creating meaningful opportunities for our graduates,” said Carlos Bravo, '86, Alumni Association Executive Director. “We want to celebrate this momentous occasion with the entire Belen community and encourage parents to join us at this event.”

“It is hard to mention the Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools from Cuba and Miami without recognizing those giants who have had such a great influence in ensuring our continued success,” said José “Pep” López-Varela ‘87, President of the Alumni Association. “Among those fundamental to our success is Fr. Juan M. Dorta-Duque, S.J. ’40. He was instrumental in connecting alums from Jesuit schools once the Jesuits were expelled from Cuba and came to the United States. He traveled the country linking Belen alumni and ultimately revitalized the association. This event will be a great opportunity to celebrate, let loose, and have fun.”
