Gala Committee Gathers to Work on Annual Event
The Gala Committee gathered on September 22 to discuss the details for this year’s Annual Gala, "Calling All Wolverines".
Over forty Belen moms united to assign specific responsibilities such as: acquiring auction items, selling program book ads, securing corporate sponsors, among other tasks. The group was asked to get the word out to the Belen community that this year’s event will be a sit down dinner and there will only be seating available for 500 (250 seats remain available).
“We are very excited to announce that this year we are working with Suzanne Michael Catering & Event,” said Director of Parent & Corporate Engagement Yvonne von der Osten. “The food will be amazing, the décor is going to be spectacular and most of all we will be raising money for a wonderful cause – the Belen Scholarship Program.”
Announced at the meeting was the return of the Tuition Raffle. Valued at $16,000 and applicable for the 2018-2019 academic year, each ticket will be sold for $100 and can be purchased online, www.belenjesuit.org/tuitionraffle. Anyone who purchases 5 tickets ($500) will receive one free. Current senior parents (2017/2018) are encouraged to participate, and if selected as the winner, will receive a reimbursement up to $15,500. Tickets will go on-sale Monday, September 25.
The gala will be held at the University of Miami Donna E. Shalala Student Center on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The festivities will include dazzling décor, delicious food, and live music. Click here for more information. Students can also participate by participating in the class page donation.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
