AT A GLANCE
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The responsibility of educating young men was entrusted to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), whose centuries-old tradition is renowned for academic excellence, spiritual depth, and character formation.
CORE VALUES
In 1961, following the rise of a new political regime in Cuba, the school’s property was seized and the Jesuit faculty was expelled. Undeterred, the Jesuits re-established Belen Jesuit in Miami later that same year. Over the next decade, the school continued to grow steadily, becoming a cornerstone of Catholic education in South Florida.
Today, Belen Jesuit is located on a 34-acre campus in western Miami-Dade County. Students benefit not only from rigorous academics and Catholic-Jesuit formation, but also from the rich culture of a dynamic metropolitan area and Miami’s year-round sunshine and coastal beauty. Since its reestablishment in Miami, more than 8,000 young men have graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School.
