THE OFFICE OF
MISSION AND FORMATION
The Office of Mission and Formation at Belen Jesuit carries on the daily mission of Catholic formation for all faculty, staff, and students. With Jesus Christ as the cornerstone, the office carries out its mission inspired by the life and teachings of St. Ignatius.
Our primary focus for each student is their spiritual and moral development. Stemming from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and participation in the communal and sacramental life of the Holy Catholic Church, each student is prepared and inspired to pursue a life of Christian service in a variety of careers and vocations. In line with the tradition of Catholic social teaching, we unapologetically promote and foster the sanctity of every human life.
Through the Office of Mission and Formation, students have opportunities to receive the Sacraments, engage in communal or personal prayer, attend grade-level retreats, and engage in Christian service. All of our programs and events are aimed towards our one goal and end: to create disciples of Jesus Christ so that we may live our lives for His greater glory.
PEER MINISTRY
The Office of Mission and Formation relies on student involvement and leadership to facilitate its various programs in faith, justice, and service. Each peer minister is formed to be an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ.
Each year, the Office of Mission and Formation invites students to apply to become Peer Ministers through an application and interview process for participation in our Peer Ministry Classes.
The Campus Ministry Program at Belen Jesuit is composed of high school students trained to serve as spiritual leaders among the student body. They assist in the planning and execution of various liturgical activities throughout the year and lead retreats for each grade level. They are committed to building up the Body of Christ at Belen Jesuit in their formal roles as student servant ministers and in their informal roles as good examples in daily student life.

Students in this group go through a formative program in conjunction with the Peer Ministry Classes to develop skills as servant leaders in the area of peer & pastoral ministry; i.e., evangelization – faith witnessing, peer support and group facilitating. Peer Servant Leaders at Belen Jesuit hold the highest level of responsibility, coordinating student faith-sharing experiences, peer immersion in pastoral and service programs throughout our community, and assisting in the development and coordination of Mission and Formation programs. Peer Ministers are expected to act as servant leaders and “Men For Others" as intentional disciples for Christ! |

RETREATS
This office provides yearly retreats and days of reflection for each grade level so that each student may grow as a religious man. One of the goals of Jesuit education is to help young men deepen their religious dimension and make a meaningful choice toward faith and the service of justice. Accordingly, by the time a student reaches graduation, the Belen school student will have examined his religious beliefs and have chosen a fundamental orientation toward God in consonance with a religious tradition or community.
While each retreat experience has its own theme and structure, each aims to foster growth in relationship with Jesus Christ and in participation in the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Additionally, in response to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ call for a “Eucharistic Revival,” Jesus Christ present in the Most Blessed Sacrament is placed as the source and summit of the retreats.
