Grade-level programs are available to high school students through classroom presentations and workshops.

Topics such as resume writing, what it means to bring value to a team, creating a LinkedIn profile, and developing professional skill sets are all essential to our program’s goals and will be covered. Topics will be evaluated on an annual basis to ensure that the lessons taught are relevant to today’s society.

Summer opportunities give students real-world, hands-on experience that lets them apply what they've learned in the classroom and build new skills along the way. These opportunities are open to Belen rising juniors and seniors. Students will be advised of the application process in early September.

Requirements

• A completed teacher recommendation form from a current teacher must be on file by the deadline: March 3, 2027.
• Student conduct will be reviewed prior to acceptance into the program.

Students can choose from the following experiences during Summer 2027:

• Shadowing Experiences – A brief, introductory experience (maximum of 4 hours) where a student observes your day-to-day responsibilities and gets a firsthand look at your work environment. Ideal for students just beginning to explore a field or industry.
• Externships – A 1- to 2-day, hands-on experience that goes beyond observation, allowing students to participate in real tasks and projects alongside you and your team. This option gives students a deeper understanding of the skills, challenges, and day-to-day realities of your profession.
• Internships – A more immersive experience ranging from 3 days to a week or longer, giving students the opportunity to fully engage in a professional setting over an extended period. Interns may take on meaningful responsibilities and projects, gaining a comprehensive understanding of your industry and workplace culture.
   

Students currently in 10th/11th grade who have:

• A good conduct record with a desire to learn about a particular profession.
• Submitted an internship application on time (application instructions are sent to all students and parents in the early spring).
• Attended the “Onboarding Meeting” Seminar (late spring)

Participation in our summer internship program is capped at 100 students.

Beyond Belen is a program offered to current juniors and seniors that pairs students with an alumni mentor based on career interests. Students are given the opportunity to ask questions at our annual on-campus meet-and-greet breakfast and gain a deeper understanding of a career they would like to explore in the future. 
 

• Mentee Expectations: Attend a brief training session before the event and a debriefing session.
• Mentor Expectations: Follow up with your mentee throughout the course of his career and educational journey. Be open to giving advice and to offering any other connections you may have to serve the mentee better and expand their professional network. Lastly, never lose sight of the fact that some mentees may reach out a few years down the road once they have a better understanding of their career path. 

The Silver Knight awards are among the nation’s most highly regarded student award programs. As a community, Belen Jesuit is proud to be a part of this program sponsored by The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald. The purpose of the Silver Knight awards is to recognize extraordinary students in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties who have excelled in the classroom and contributed unselfishly to their community and/or society as a whole. Each nominee chosen each year falls nothing short of serving as examples of what it means to be a true man for others, with their Jesuit values at the core of everything they do. Leadership, perseverance, and overcoming challenges make a Silver Knight nominee stand out among the rest.
